Former Jets Star Makes Bold Prediction About Aaron Rodgers’ Future in New York Now That Aaron Glenn Is Head Coach

Aaron Glenn becoming the new head coach of the New York Jets led to a former teammate of his proclaiming the future of Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Jets and their never-ending cycle of being…the New York Jets. For decades, the Jets have been among the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to continuity or success. Now, after a disastrously disappointing marriage with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the team’s focus is in a new direction.

Aaron Glenn is New York’s new head coach, and according to one Fox Sports analyst and former Jets star, the decision is the perfect one for a team looking for some stability and culture. Moreover, he believes he knows how the potential divorce with Rodgers will shake out.

Keyshawn Johnson Gives 2 Cents on New York Jets Hiring Aaron Glenn

After cycling through Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich in the interim, the Jets are heading into the 2025 season with a promising new candidate in Glenn. A remarkable defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, he is taking over one of the most unstable times in the franchise’s history — which, when considering the Jets, is certainly saying something.

However, former wide receiver and current NFL analyst Keyshawn Johnson believes Glenn could make it work in New York.

“The Jets’ situation is phenomenal. They got players, and what he can do is he can go into New York, set a different type of culture that’s there.”

And the first step to do that involves a certain 40-year-old quarterback.

“I can guarantee you 100,000% that culture is going to change overnight. Because he’s not the typical, quiet, not-gonna-say-anything. No, he’s gonna challenge his players, just like he did as a defender…He will not start off his career with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in September.”

Johnson is dramatically certain that Glenn will move on from the mess of the last two years with Rodgers at the helm.

“He ain’t gonna start his career with that mess. It’s not going to happen. He’s not going to allow somebody to tell him what he’s doing.”

Even though the Jets, for now at least, don’t have a different quarterback they can turn to,  Johnson believes the move is the best-case scenario for New York, considering the other options available in the market.

“When you look at the jobs that are available or were available at the time. Chicago was looking for something different; they hired Ben Johnson. New England, obviously, that was a Vrabel move Day 1. Raiders, that’s not a good situation based on where the team makeup is.

“Jacksonville, Trent Baalke is not there anymore, which that’s kind of weird that whole dynamic in Jacksonville, which I think is a really good job in terms of the players that’s there. But the owners in Jacksonville, they just seem kind of up and down on what they wanna do.

“Then, when you look at New Orleans, it’s a little bit of a dumpster fire right now. There’s nothing good there.”

For the most part, before the trio of Glenn, Ben Johnson, and Dan Campbell got to Detroit, the Lions were in the same ilk as the Jets. The three completely revitalized the franchise, turning it into a Super Bowl contender in the blink of an eye.

This time, without Johnson and Campbell, the onus falls on the former DC alone. Let’s see how he sorts through the mess that is the Jets with a new quarterback — just make sure he has a high Madden rating.
