Kendrick Bourne Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up the New England WR This Week?

Has the New England offense made a turn for the better? Is Kendrick Bourne a WR to target on waivers this week?

The New England Patriots offense came back from the dead this week, upsetting the Buffalo Bills and getting head coach Bill Belichick his 300th career win. QB Mac Jones looked incredible, with 272 yards passing and two TDs. One of those TDs went to WR Kendrick Bourne.

Bourne had seven targets, the most on the team. He caught six of them for 63 yards and one TD; overall, he led the team in targets, receiving yards, and receptions. He now has double-digit fantasy football points in the last two weeks. Should you add him off the waiver wire?

Should Kendrick Bourne Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 8?

Bourne is clearly Jones’ favorite target, and it is hard not to go after a player like that on the waiver wire. Bourne should be picked up, but temper expectations and proceed cautiously with him. Even though the Patriots looked to be functioning on all cylinders offensively this week, you cannot forget that they had only won one game prior.

The Patriots play Miami in Week 8, which is a good matchup for WRs, so Bourne could have another good game, as long as Jones doesn’t fall into his old habits. I am more concerned about Jones when it comes to Bourne having fantasy success. Bourne is mainly battling Demario Douglas and Rhamondre Stevenson for targets, both finishing Sunday with six, and he should continue to be the target downfield.

Keep in mind that JuJu Smith-Schuster has not played the last two weeks — he was sidelined because of a concussion, and when he returns, we could see a reduction in targets for Bourne. When Smith-Schuster was on the field, Bourne averaged 6.6 targets per game, and in the last two weeks without him, Bourne has averaged nine.
