There was a lot of positive chatter surrounding undrafted rookie RB Keaton Mitchell during the preseason in Baltimore. He looked strong and explosive, and the team was looking forward to possibly adding another young RB to their repertoire. Mitchell suffered a shoulder injury in Baltimore’s second preseason game and was placed on IR. He made his debut in Week 6, played again in Week 7, and then missed Week 8 due to injury.
Mitchell was back for the Ravens today and had himself a game. He finished the day with 138 yards and one TD on nine carries. Mitchell played the same amount of snaps as Gus Edwards and had the second-most carries among RBs. Should fantasy football managers add him off the waiver wire?
Should Keaton Mitchell Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 10?
Baltimore blew out Seattle and looked in control from the start, so it is difficult to say whether Mitchell’s play was because of the game script or because of his talent. Either way, it is clear that he is talented; it is whether or not he is worth a pickup due to the depth of rushers in Baltimore.

Remember, it is not just RBs that Mitchell would be splitting carries with; Lamar Jackson had the second most carries overall on Sunday, just three less than Justice Hill.

Edwards continues to be the RB1 in Baltimore — he is efficient with his carries, and he gets the ball in goal-line packages if it doesn’t go to Jackson. After that, it is Hill, then Mitchell on the depth chart. Managers will run to waivers to grab Mitchell this week, and if you can get him with very little FAAB or without giving up a high waiver priority, I support it.
Mitchell is a player that you would not want to start right away simply because you would need to see if the Ravens plan to continue using him the way they did on Sunday. If you can grab him for a little to hold him on a deep bench, go for it, but there is no guarantee he will have many opportunities next week.
