Keaton Mitchell Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up Baltimore RB this Week?

Is there a new star running back in Baltimore? Should you pick up the Ravens' Keaton Mitchell off the waiver wire ahead of Week 11?

After Week 9, fantasy football managers ran to the waiver wire to target Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell. And with good reason.

Mitchell finished Week 9 as the RB5 with 138 yards on the ground and a touchdown. However, even with that stellar performance, he was still third in the pecking order on Baltimore’s depth chart, with Gus Edwards and Justice Hill ahead of him — not to mention QB Lamar Jackson.

Now, it’s hard to say that Mitchell is still third on the depth chart after his Week 10 performance. He built off his outing last week, finishing with 66 all-purpose yards and another touchdown. Mitchell had more rushing attempts than Hill and was more efficient on the ground than both Hill and Edwards, averaging 11.3 yards a carry.

Should Keaton Mitchell Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 11?

Mitchell is currently 47% rostered on Yahoo and needs to be added off the waiver wire in Week 11.

Last week, I was more apprehensive about Mitchell. The talent was clearly there, but we didn’t know how the Ravens would continue to use him. This week, we saw that Baltimore sees the talent in Mitchell and will continue to give him the ball.

I don’t think Mitchell will usurp Edwards as the RB1, but I can see him bumping up to the RB2 on the team, leaving Hill behind. Hill’s rushing share dropped to 13% this week, with Mitchell’s at 21%.

I just cannot see Baltimore turning a blind eye to the speed and explosivity that Mitchell brings to the table. He’s earning his spot.

I would aggressively pursue Mitchell this week. He is close to being a Flex-worthy start on his own on fantasy rosters, and he could be a league-winner if Edwards goes down.
