    Drue Tranquill Contract Details: LB Re-Signs With Chiefs for $19 Million Ahead of NFL Free Agency

    As the Chiefs continue to negotiate a contract extension with Jones, they finalized a deal to re-sign starting linebacker Drue Tranquill on Thursday. After signing a one-year deal with the Chiefs last offseason, Tranquill flourished in his first season with Kansas City.

    Tranquill appeared in 19 total games for the Chiefs last season, including nine starts. Despite playing linebacker, Tranquill flourished as a pass rusher in Kansas City. He finished the year with 22 total pressures, including five sacks and two forced fumbles.

    While many expect the Chiefs to eventually agree to a massive contract extension with Jones, it hasn’t happened just yet. Jones only added fuel to the fire of doubt on Thursday with a cryptic post on social media.

    Jones is known for his personality and willingness to make jokes, so it’s difficult to decipher exactly what his latest social media post truly means. Given the panic of fans in Kansas City due to the quickly approaching start of free agency, Jones is likely toying with their emotions.

    Douglas believes that the Detroit Lions are the biggest threat to the Chiefs heading into 2024. He believes that Lions quarterback Jared Goff has what it takes to beat Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the NFL’s biggest stage.
