The Kansas City Chiefs franchise-tagged CB L'Jarius Sneed, but he's drawing interest from elsewhere. Here's more on that story and other news on the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still looking to add to their team. Additions could also mean re-signing players or potential trades.

Kansas City’s two-time Super Bowl champion cornerback, L’Jarius Sneed, has drawn interest from multiple teams, per KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson. The Titans are among the teams interested.

“No firm offer yet, but dialogue remains active, in fluid situation,” Wilson wrote.

Since being selected by the Chiefs with the 138th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech, Sneed, 27, has spent four seasons on the field. Sneed has amassed 303 tackles (233 solo), 19 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 40 pass deflections, 13 quarterback hits, and 10 interceptions returned for 105 yards in just four years.

The cornerback was recently granted a non-exclusive franchise tag by the Chiefs, which carries a fully guaranteed 2024 contract worth $19.8 million. Kansas City and Sneed have a deadline or of mid-July to reach a long-term agreement.

    Chiefs Re-Sign DT Mike Pennel

Kansas City has already brought back defensive tackle Chris Jones, but they made another move to re-sign a player on the defensive line. Chiefs Digest’s Matt Derrick reported that Mike Pennel would return to the team.

Pennel played in three of Kansas City’s playoff games last season, posting 12 tackles (five solo) and a tackle for loss. It all culminated with a Super Bowl ring, Pennel’s second with the Chiefs and his first since 2019 with the team.

The 32-year-old Arizona State product was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He went on to play his first three seasons in Green Bay, followed by two seasons with the New York Jets (2017-2018) before joining the Chiefs (2019-20), Atlanta Falcons (2021), and Chicago Bears (2022).

Pennel has played in 121 games over a 10-year career, making 206 tackles (117 solo), 11 tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and four pass deflections.

Chiefs LB Drue Traquill Seemingly Attempts To Recruit Free Agent WRs Mike Williams and Hollywood Brown

Kansas City linebacker Drue Tranquill has been busy this offseason. The veteran LB signed his own three-year deal to return to the team, and now he’s hoping to get another chance to win a Super Bowl with a team that has three in the past four years.

Free agent wide receivers Mike Williams and Hollywood Brown were on Tranquill’s radar, as he made two posts to the players on X (formerly Twitter). Williams was released by the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday, and Brown became a free agent earlier this week after spending two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Williams only played in three games last season after suffering an ACL tear, securing 19 receptions for 249 yards and one touchdown. He’s been productive over his seven-year career, with 309 catches for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns, since being drafted seventh overall by the Chargers out of Clemson in 2017.

As for Brown, the 26-year-old wideout has played five seasons — three with the Baltimore Ravens, who drafted him with the 25th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, and two with the Arizona Cardinals. Brown had 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. He has 313 catches for 3,644 yards and 28 touchdowns over the course of his career.
