Kansas City Chiefs Injury Update: Latest on Travis Kelce, Nick Bolton, George Karlaftis, and Others Heading Into TNF

What's the latest on Travis Kelce, Nick Bolton, and other injured Kansas City Chiefs ahead of Thursday Night Football?

The Kansas City Chiefs have won four consecutive games since their season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions and are now preparing for a Thursday night, intradivisional matchup against the Denver Broncos.

All eyes are on Travis Kelce’s status after the veteran tight end suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, but he’s not the only banged-up Chief heading into Week 5.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

    Kansas City Chiefs Injury Update

Can the Chiefs move to 5-1 on Thursday Night Football? Here’s their latest injury report.

    TE Travis Kelce

Kelce went down on a non-contact injury just before halftime of Kansas City’s eventual Week 4 win over the Minnesota Vikings. While Kelce initially appeared incredibly frustrated (and even slammed his helmet on the ground), he was able to return to the game on the Chiefs’ second third-quarter drive.

Kelce caught five passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the second half of Sunday’s contest, so he seemed just fine. However, he is dealing with a low ankle sprain, as NFL Network reported earlier this week.

Still, Kelce was able to practice on a limited basis on Tuesday and — barring a setback — should be expected to suit up again for Wednesday’s session.

“He’s feeling a little bit better,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Tuesday, adding that Kansas City will “see how (Kelce) moves around” before deciding on his status for Week 5.

Given that he returned to Sunday’s game and has already been present at practice, it would be a surprise if Kelce can’t play against the Broncos this week.

    EDGE George Karlaftis

George Karlaftis picked up a hamstring injury against the Vikings and was limited for the Chiefs’ Monday walkthrough and Tuesday practice.

One of two Kansas City 2022 first-round picks, Karlaftis has played nearly 80% of the Chiefs’ defensive snaps this season and leads the team with 23 pressures. If he can’t go against Denver, he’d likely be replaced by 2023 first-rounder Felix Anudike-Uzomah.

    LB Nick Bolton

No Chiefs defender played more snaps than Nick Bolton last season (1,119), but the veteran linebacker has already missed three games this year due to an ankle injury.

Bolton was limited all last week and listed as questionable for Sunday’s game but still couldn’t play. Although he’s been limited to begin this week, Bolton has been cleared to return and is expected to play against Denver, as Jordan Schultz of The Score reported.
