Latest News and Injury Updates Impacting Fantasy

    Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

Entering Sunday, Fields had thrown eight touchdowns in the previous two games and appeared to be hitting his stride. Heading into the game against a suspect Minnesota Vikings, Fields looked to be in store for his third consecutive big game.

It wasn’t meant to be, however. Fields left the game with a thumb injury, and the Bears lost 19-13. After the game, it was determined that Fields had dislocated his thumb on his throwing hand. It occurred on a play where Fields was sacked and he was forced to leave the game.

Tyson Bagent filled in for Fields, going 10 of 14 for 83 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Head coach Matt Eberflus talked to reporters Monday about Fields’ status moving forward.

“No, that’s not been ruled out. It’s doubtful still,” Eberflus said of Fields potentially playing on Sunday. “Like I said, for this week, it looks like it’s doubtful. But we’ll see at the end of the week and see where it goes. I know he’s a fast healer.”

This one is definitely one to keep an eye on, but it’s not looking good. Be prepared to stream someone else in your lineup next week.

    Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Lawrence has helped the Jaguars get off to a 4-2 start this year, as Jacksonville defeated the Indianapolis Colts this past weekend, 37-20. However, there was bad news to come of the game.

Lawrence suffered a knee injury late, which occurred on a sack, and he had to leave the game. Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard stepped in to kneel the clock away.

An early diagnosis shows that it looks like Lawrence avoided any potential serious injury, as he was diagnosed with a knee sprain and is currently day-to-day. An issue for the Jaguars, though, is that this isn’t a normal NFL week for the team because they’re back in action on Thursday to take on the Saints in New Orleans.

Lawrence did not participate in practice on Monday, and this is truly going to be a game-time decision. If this was Sunday, this could definitely be a different question. However, the Saints have a top-five defense, and asking a quarterback off a knee sprain to play on such a quick turnaround may be a lot to ask.

If Lawrence isn’t able to go, Beathard is most likely to get the start. Keep an eye on the next few days because if Lawrence isn’t able to go, the fantasy values of the Jaguars’ skilled players will decrease.

    Jimmy Garoppolo, Las Vegas Raiders

When the news first came out about Garoppolo, it sounded very scary. He suffered a back injury in the second quarter and was taken to the locker room.

Shortly after being declared out against the New England Patriots, Garoppolo’s injury was deemed serious enough that he needed to be taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

Head coach Josh McDaniels said on Monday that Garoppolo’s status for the upcoming game is unknown. For now, though, it appears that Garoppolo has at least dodged a potentially serious injury, which is big for him and the Raiders.

Las Vegas has won two in a row to move to 3-3 and are in second place of the AFC West. If Garoppolo isn’t able to go, Brian Hoyer and rookie Aidan O’Connell will be in line to start against the Chicago Bears.
