Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields left early in the third quarter on Sunday night after taking a hit from Dallas Cowboys defensive end Tyrus Wheat.
Fields was replaced by Steelers backup quarterback Kyle Allen, who immediately connected with tight end Pat Freiermuth for a 19-yard completion. Here’s the latest on Fields’ status against the Cowboys.

Fields entered the blue medical tent and likely underwent testing for a concussion. He quickly exited the tent and returned to the game on the same drive, eventually throwing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Steelers tight end Connor Heyward.
We’ll continue to monitor Fields’ status as Sunday night’s primetime matchup against the Cowboys in Pittsburgh continues.
Potential Fantasy Fallout From Fields’ Injury
Fields remains a viable fantasy football quarterback, largely due to his floor, which is raised thanks to his rushing ability. After a slow start to the regular season, Fields posted respectable fantasy performances in each of Pittsburgh’s last two games.
If Fields is forced to miss time, it would be interesting to see who the Steelers would start at quarterback. While Allen replaced Fields on Sunday night, it’s fair to expect Russell Wilson to return at some point as well.

If Wilson replaces Fields as QB1 in Pittsburgh, it will likely increase the value of WR George Pickens and Freiermuth. Despite receiving plenty of hype entering this season, Pickens has underwhelmed with Fields at quarterback in 2024.
Given Wilson’s willingness to push the ball downfield, Pickens would likely receive more opportunities and therefore significantly raise his fantasy ceiling. After ranking as the 39th-best WR through the first four games of the regular season, Pickens would likely receive a boost with Wilson at QB.
