There has been, and will continue to be, a lot of discussion around Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears‘ No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. The Bears can do anything they want with the selection, and with the ability to control the start of the draft, they have the NFL world at their fingertips.
However, despite the ability to go in many different directions, the feeling is that the team is locked in on one specific player. The belief is that Chicago will select USC QB Caleb Williams and reset at the position. That move would essentially end the tenure of Fields in the Windy City. His social media activity might tell us he’s preparing for it himself.
Justin Fields May Have Hinted at Bears’ Future
Social media can tell all, or it can be misleading. In the ever-evolving world of social interactions where people read between the lines to try and tell how a person is feeling, we can add Fields’ unfollowing the Bears on Instagram to the list of possible meaningful (or meaningless) moves.
It seems as if the young quarterback has taken it upon himself to remove the team from his Instagram feed with the unfollow. Some may look at it as a foreshadowing for the Bears and their plans.
This action seems to be growing in popularity across the pro sports landscape as some players use it as a parting of ways or as leverage in contract disputes. Could Fields’ have already been told they’re moving on from him? Could this be completely coincidental?
While the latter is highly unlikely, everything is on the table as the NFL Draft weekend draws near. The Bears look set to upgrade their future — whether that includes Fields or not remains to be seen.
However, this serves as another reminder of just how much of a business the NFL truly is. One year you’re the future star of a franchise, and the next, you’re removing the team that drafted you off of Instagram as fans and the media decipher it all.
No matter where he plays next, the future remains bright for Fields. The anticipation is that if the team does move on from him, there will be suitors for his surfaces.

While we don’t know where that future will be right now, Fields’ social media presence may have been the first real clue as to how this will all shake out.
