Josh Jacobs Sends Blunt 6-Word Message to Packers Front Office, Candidly Reveals Green Bay’s Biggest Need

Speaking to the media, Josh Jacobs has raised eyebrows with some candid answers about Green Bay's needs ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

The Green Bay Packers made two big moves in free agency in 2024, adding safety Xavier McKinney from the New York Giants and former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs. Both players contributed massively to the team’s impressive season, earning Pro Bowl nods in the process.

With the Packers now in building mode again ahead of the 2025 season, Jacobs joined Kay Adams at Radio Row in New Orleans and didn’t hold back when asked about his team’s needs.

Josh Jacobs: ‘I Think We Need Like 3’

With the pre-Super Bowl media circus in full flow in New Orleans, players from across the league are appearing on TV and radio shows to discuss all things football.

Jacobs, who recorded the league’s sixth-most rushing yards in 2024, was one such player. Joining Kay Adams on her show “Up And Adams,” Jacobs answered several questions about the Packers and what they need to improve moving forward.

When asked if he thought the team needed to add a piece this offseason to compete for a Super Bowl in 2025, Jacobs gave a candid answer.

“I think we need like three.”

While some might take Jacobs answer as a sign of discontent with his team, it’s clear that Jacobs signed with Green Bay to win and that nothing less will suffice.

The Packers haven’t made it to a Super Bowl since they won it all with Aaron Rodgers and Co. in 2010. Such a storied franchise should be competing for titles, and Packers fans might find their running back’s attitude refreshing.

Jacobs on the Packers’ Young Receivers

Not content with merely suggesting that his team needs reinforcements, Jacobs got more specific.

Speaking on “No BS,” a Packers radio show, Jacobs expressed his love for the team’s young wide receiver group, but said he feels like the team needs a true No. 1.

“We’ve got a really young group of receivers, all can be really, really, really special. But I think personally, we need a guy who’s proven to be a #1 WR already.”

Jacobs Has Spoken to Davante Adams

As Jacobs continued to elaborate on the kind of receiver he believes would take his team to the next level, his hosts interrupted to guide him in a familiar direction.

As Jacobs began listing the qualities that he had in mind, host Armen Saryan added: “(someone) that maybe played here before?”

That suggestion brought a smile from Jacobs, who played with former Packers favorite Davante Adams in Las Vegas.

“If he come at the right price” replied Jacobs with a grin, before revealing that he’d spoken to Adams about a return to Green Bay.

    “I’ve had talks with ‘Te!”

Adams would certainly tick all the boxes in terms of being a proven WR1. It’s also hard to argue with Jacobs’ assessment of Green Bay’s current receiver group, especially when you factor in the health issues that have plagued Christian Watson’s young career.

Despite only being with the team for a year after replacing former fan favorite Aaron Jones, Jacobs has earned a lot of love from Packers fans. Interviews like this one, combined with his clear desire to win a Super Bowl in Green Bay, should further add to his reputation at Lambeau Field.

It remains to be seen what the Packers’ front office has in mind this offseason. If they were curious about the thoughts of their running back, though, they need wonder no more.
