Josh Jacobs was hit hard early in the third quarter of the Las Vegas Raiders game against the Chicago Bears. After a 1-yard run, he was met by Justin Jones. The two contacted hard, and Jacobs was in obvious pain as he headed toward the sideline. What do we know about the extent of his injury?
Josh Jacobs Injury Update
The terrifying collision bent Jacobs back awkwardly, although it didn’t seem clear what his ailment was as he left the field. He was doubled over on the sideline while being looked at by the training staff.
Jacobs hasn’t been nearly as efficient so far in 2023. He’s yet to average four yards per carry during any of his six appearances leading up to the Bears game.

The Raiders’ offensive line is clearly underperforming in the run game, but Jacobs himself hasn’t been nearly as elusive or explosive so far. He’s never been a consistent big-play threat, but his post-contact work this year has been lackluster compared to a season ago.
But while he’s been struggling on the ground, he has been impressive as a receiver with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. His 81 receiving yards against the Chargers are more yards than he has had on the ground in any game so far this season.
Jacobs returned to the field on the next drive. However, he was clearly limping as he came off the field at the end of the third quarter.
