The draft buzz surrounding FSU quarterback Jordan Travis fizzled out significantly after suffering a season-ending leg injury towards the end of the 2023 college football season.
Travis had an intriguing blend of athleticism and production during his collegiate career, but he’s an older prospect who still has holes in his game entering the league.
After having his best college season cut short due to injury, which NFL teams present the best landing spot for the talented FSU QB prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft?
Which Teams Could Draft Jordan Travis?
Indianapolis Colts Add a Dual-Threat Weapon To Back Up Anthony Richardson
Shane Steichen has a pretty nice track record of recent success building an offensive scheme around a talented dual-threat quarterback prospect, with Jalen Hurts and Anthony Richardson both having success in his system.
Travis presents a similar physical profile with a strong frame and twitchiness as a ball carrier that puts opposing defenses in conflict.

Richardson is the unquestioned franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. Still, Travis’ skill set could make for a favorable backup in this offensive scheme.
He would allow Steichen to keep designed QB run concepts and the plethora of RPOs — which the Indianapolis Colts ran at the fourth-highest rate in the league in 2023 — in place if Richardson sustains another injury.
Dallas Cowboys Add Jordan Travis With Dak Prescott Contract Extension Looming
The Dallas Cowboys brought in a plus-level athlete at the quarterback position last year when they acquired Trey Lance via trade to backup starting QB Dak Prescott. The starter responded by having an MVP-caliber campaign in 2023, but a contract extension looms very soon, which could make this a fluid situation if things go awry.
One could scoff at this selection because of the trade for Lance last season. However, Travis offers a similar skill set with a favorable contract situation that could still develop behind Prescott for his rookie year.
His arm talent isn’t elite by any measure, but neither was Prescott’s entering the league. Travis has the leadership traits, competitive spirit, and track record of continued development to suggest he could keep getting better in the right situation.
The Cowboys’ offense is still expected to be among the more productive units heading into 2024, with All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb anchoring the high-powered Dallas passing game for years to come.
Baltimore Ravens Draft Travis as Potential High-Level Backup
One can say quite confidently that Lamar Jackson has plenty of job security heading into the 2024 season. Jackson won the league MVP award for the second time in the last five seasons with a career-high 3,678 passing yards to go with 29 total touchdowns.
At the moment, Josh Johnson and Malik Cunningham are on the depth chart behind Jackson. One could argue that Travis is a better dual-threat option than both of Jackson’s backups at the moment.
Fortunately, Jackson managed to stay healthy all of last year but did miss 10 games due to injury over the prior two seasons. This signals that a quality backup option at quarterback could be valuable to the Baltimore Ravens, given Jackson’s play style and durability history.
This wouldn’t be the best scenario from a potential playing-time standpoint for Travis, but learning behind Jackson in an ascending offense could be a favorable landing spot for the continued development of the FSU QB.
