‘Sky’s the Limit’ – Jordan Love Gets Candid on Adding Tee Higgins After Josh Jacobs’ Comments About Packers’ WRs

The Green Bay Packers are close to making some serious noise, and quarterback Jordan Love knows it. With whispers about wide receiver Tee Higgins possibly joining the offense in free agency, Love isn’t just hopeful; he’s actively excited. And after running back Josh Jacobs dropped his take on the Packers wide receivers, the idea of adding a powerhouse like Higgins feels even more necessary.

Love’s already proving he can be a star quarterback, but adding a receiver to match his prowess could lead to fireworks.

Jordan Love Backs Packers WRs But Sees ‘Sky’s the Limit’ With Tee Higgins

Jacobs stirred the pot. Love smoothed it over. But the big question remains: Will Green Bay land a true WR1?

After Jacobs said the Packers need a “proven” top receiver, Love defended his young WR room but left the door open for a potential splash move. Speaking on “NFL Live,” Love acknowledged the group’s youth but believes they can “grow into” that WR1 role.

Still, when asked about the Cincinnati Bengals star, he didn’t hesitate. “He’s a phenomenal player. I know Tee [Higgins] pretty well, and, you know, like I said, if you add a really good player to a really good offense, you know, I think the sky’s the limit, you could take it to a pretty cool place.”

Jacobs, appearing on 97.3 The Game, didn’t downplay the Packers’ receiving talent but made his stance clear. “We’ve got a really young group of receivers. All can be really special, but I think personally we need a guy that’s proven to be a No. 1 already.” He even threw Davante Adams’ name into the mix, hinting that a reunion could be possible “at the right price.”

Statistically, no Packers WR established himself as “the guy” in 2023. Jayden Reed led the group with 857 yards, six TDs, and 55 catches — solid, but not quite WR1 numbers. Christian Watson battled injuries, while both Dontayvion Wicks and Malik Heath flashed potential.

The Packers have cap space. Higgins’ future in Cincinnati is uncertain. Could Green Bay make a move? Love is backing his guys — but he wouldn’t mind a little extra firepower.

Packers Target Patriots’ $27M TE To Give Jordan Love More Help

The Packers might have a new weapon in sight for Love. A fresh trade proposal suggests Green Bay could target New England Patriots veteran tight end Hunter Henry to bolster their passing game.

Henry led the Pats’ struggling receiving corps in 2024 with 66 catches — tied for sixth among NFL tight ends. He racked up 674 yards (eighth among TEs) despite playing in an offense that finished dead last in total receiving yards (2,295). His reliability made him the top target for both rookie Drake Maye and veteran Jacoby Brissett.

The Packers, meanwhile, saw 2023 third-rounder Tucker Kraft emerge as their TE1, but the depth behind him remains thin. SI.com put it bluntly: “It’s Tucker Kraft and everyone else.” Adding Henry would give Love a proven red-zone threat and a security blanket in the middle of the field.

Love threw 25 touchdowns in 2024 (down from 32 in 2023) and finished 13th in PFN’s QB+ metric. A veteran tight end could help stabilize the offense.

With Henry entering the final year of his $27 million deal, the Patriots might be willing to move him. If Green Bay pulls the trigger, Love will have one more weapon to help get over the hump in a daunting NFC North.
