Jonah Williams Free Agency Predictions: Potential Landing Spots Include Cowboys, Patriots, and Steelers

    Published on

The NFL is in the midst of free agency, and news is flying. With Jonah Williams still on the board, where could he land?

Free agency started Monday at noon, leaving the NFL in a warzone of signings. All 32 teams have made moves, with almost all of them signing players from outside teams. One player that has remained unsigned, however, is OT Jonah Williams. What are some potential landing spots for the former first-round pick?

Jonah Williams Free Agency Landing Spots

Williams was a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s never been a Pro Bowler or an All-Pro, but he plays reliably at both left and right tackle. He missed his rookie year and part of 2020 but has been completely healthy ever since. According to Spotrac, his market value is just under $11 million per year.

    Cowboys Find Jonah Williams Replacement

The Dallas Cowboys could use Williams, especially considering the fact the team let left tackle Tyron Smith hit the free agency market. With Smith heading out the door, it currently leaves Tyler Smith as the new left tackle instead of left guard, which he played last year.

With Smith kicking out to tackle, it leaves T.J. Bass as the team’s left guard, despite him starting just two games as an undrafted rookie in 2023. Signing Williams would give the Cowboys a starting left tackle and kick Smith back to guard, returning order to the offensive line.

Patriots Get Much Needed OL Help

The New England Patriots are in a much different situation than the Cowboys but also need a tackle. Heading into a rebuilding season, it’s likely the Patriots either start the season with a rookie quarterback or the recently-signed Jacoby Brissett. Either way, they’ll need help.

The Patriots’ current starting tackles are Conor McDermott and Chukwuma Okorafor, with Okorafor being recently signed from the Pittsburgh Steelers. McDermott was a sixth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and has started 17 games with three different teams. While he was drafted by the Patriots, he didn’t make the team until 2022.

Williams would likely start over McDermott on Day 1 alongside Okorafor, giving the Patriots two new tackles after allowing 48 sacks in 2023.

Pittsburgh Steelers Steal From a Rival

With Chukwuma Okorafor leaving in free agency to the Patriots, the Steelers are in need of a tackle. The team took Broderick Jones in the first round in 2022, and he will likely start at right tackle, but the team could use a left tackle, where Williams would play.

The current starting left tackle for Pittsburgh is Dan Moore Jr., who has started all 49 games for the Steelers since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Despite a large number of starts, Moore earned just a 51.7 PFF grade and allowed eight sacks on 951 offensive snaps.
