Joey McGuire Gives Top Spot to Shedeur Sanders in 2025 NFL Draft

Speaking to ESPN’s Heather Dinich, McGuire presented his thoughts about putting Sanders in the top tier. He stated, “If Sanders doesn’t go the No. 1 quarterback in the draft, I really question what scouts and GMs are looking at film-wise. I think he’s the best QB in the country.”

McGuire’s words pack a punch, especially coming from a coach who knows the college football landscape and is set to face the Buffaloes on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Shedeur Sanders has presented himself as an undeniable asset for the Buffaloes, lighting up the field this season. His stats speak volumes, completing 220 of 300 passes for a staggering 2,591 yards in the 2024 CFB season. He has a completion rate of 73.3% while averaging 8.6 yards per attempt.

Coach Prime’s son has thrown 21 touchdowns against just six interceptions. His passer rating is also 165.0. Shedeur’s performances are too good to overlook, especially when considering potential first-round picks in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Sanders Clears Air About NFL Draft

Colorado’s QB is setting the record straight about his future amid speculation regarding the NFL Draft.

In a YouTube video from “Well Off Media,” the 22-year-old lightened the mood with a humorous remark after an assistant coach reminded players to register for spring semester classes. Sanders joked, “Classes? I’m going to the league.”

Apart from the jokes, Sanders clarified the intent to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. His NFL prospects look promising, with many projections placing him as either the first or second quarterback off the board.

Sanders also took to X to clarify his earlier comments. “I’m graduating early btw,” he wrote, reassuring fans that his academic commitment remains intact despite his professional football career.

The Buffaloes are 6-2 this season, and Sanders’ leadership has been crucial to their success. As a result, he is already generating buzz as a top NFL prospect, with several teams eyeing him.

The Las Vegas Raiders emerge as a prime candidate due to their quarterback needs. The New York Jets could also be in the mix, especially if they look for a long-term successor to Aaron Rodgers, who has little time left.
