The Cincinnati Bengals were once a franchise that went two decades without a postseason win. That was before the arrival of Joe Mixon.
Since then, the running back has played an integral role in reshaping the franchise. Bengals football has gone from years of mediocrity to being expected to make a playoff run. Mixon has laid the groundwork at running back in the new era of him, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. But how much is he getting paid to do so?
Details of Joe Mixon’s Net Worth Revealed
As of 2023, Mixon’s net worth sits at $10 million.
It’s not just the NFL that pays him. Mixon has endorsement deals with companies like Head and Shoulders, Kroger Health, and EA Sports with its Madden NFL games.
The 27-year-old Mixon has played his entire career in the Queen City since being drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Mixon even arrived to Cincy before the team lured in Burrow and even Chase, as Mixon was one of the final draft pieces selected by former head coach Marvin Lewis.
Since coming over from the University of Oklahoma, Mixon has become a Pro Bowl-caliber RB and is the owner of an AFC Championship ring. But has Mixon ever needed to take pay cuts to stay with the Bengals?
Looking Back at Past Mixon Contracts
Mixon has had to make some financial sacrifices to remain with “Who Dey” nation.
He opted to take a $4.39 million pay cut ahead of the ’23 season, which he agreed to on July 15. But that’s not the only pay slice he’ll take.

For 2024, he’ll be accepting a $4.67 million cut. This reworked deal got Mixon to have a base salary of $5.51 million for this season to go along with $2 million in incentives.
Were his other contracts similar? Here’s what Mixon agreed to in the past:
- 2017 Rookie Deal: Mixon agreed to a four-year, $5,450,174 contract for his first NFL deal. That contract included a $2,103,763 signing bonus with $2,816,498 guaranteed. He averaged $1.3 million per year.
- 2020 Deal: He then agreed to a higher pay — four years for $48 million. Also featured was a $10 million signing bonus with $10 million guaranteed. His base salary was $12 million.
- 2023 Contract: Again, Mixon’s deal got reworked. And now, along with the aforementioned new incentives, he officially won’t become an unrestricted free agent until the 2025 offseason. Mixon also carries a dead cap value of $9.8 million.
Mixon has become a pillar of this current Bengals model. He’s the RB who helped end their AFC title drought, plus longtime postseason misery.
He now gets granted two more years in the Queen City by reworking his contract, all with the attempt to give the Bengals fan base a long-awaited Vince Lombardi Trophy.
