Joe Burrow’s Sacrificial Stance Makes Bengals Fans Adore Him Even More
Burrow proved his mettle on the field last season. However, since the offseason rolled around for Cincy, the 28-year-old has been on a media tour for getting extensions to his teammates. He once again talked about wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins and defensive end Trey Hendrickson.
However, during his appearance on Fox Sports’ “Breakfast Ball” he mentioned soon-to-be free agent tight end Mike Gesicki as well. The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. shared Burrow’s words on X.
“Joe Burrow on Breakfast Ball on FS1 right now asked if he is willing to restructure to help keep everyone together: ‘Of course.’”
“On if he has faith Bengals ownership will be willing to spend and get all these deals done: ‘I do. I do. We have the cap space to get it done. I want to make it happen. Everybody involved Trey, Tee, Ja’Marr, Mike G, we all want to stay together. When you have guys that are motivated like that I think you can get those things done,’” he tweeted.

As soon as this tweet went viral, fans were in awe that Burrow was willing to restructure his $275 million contract, which he signed in 2023.
“I’m putting all my faith into Burrow getting this done. He’s gotta keep the pressure on the FO,” responded one fan.
“It is awfully hard not to love Joe Burrow, what a great leader. We’re not worthy,” one fan tweeted.

“Dawg our ownership doesn’t deserve Burrow as QB. Dude is ready to do whatever it takes to keep everybody,” added a fan.
“I love how Burrow is publicly giving the Bengals front office no out, no excuse to not get these deals done,” replied one fan.

“Joe Burrow is single-handedly bringing the Bengals out of the trenches. It’s not only his play on the field that makes Cincinnati love him, it’s what he does off the field as well. I’m so happy he’s our QB,” another fan added.
“He is telling you exactly what he wants. Now man up and do it Brown family,” tweeted another fan.

However, critics have suggested that Burrow must be willing to take a pay cut for the Bengals to afford the outgoing players. Restricting his contract will solve the cap issues but will delay the problem without addressing the affordability issue.
