J.K. Dobbins: Love From Chargers’ Fans ‘Feels Good’

Bolt Nation loved what they saw in Dobbins this season and want to see more in 2025. The Ohio State product feels their love and reciprocated.

“It definitely feels good. And I love the Chargers fans,” Dobbins said on the Jan. 23 episode of “Up & Adams.” “It was a great year. It was a special year. [The fans] believed in me. When they really saw that I was healthy, they embraced me.”

“Hopefully, maybe, I can be a Charger for the rest of the time playing … we’ll see here pretty soon,” Dobbins said with a big smile.

When Adams asked Dobbins if he wanted to be a Charger, he confirmed without hesitation, “Yes, I do. I love the Chargers. Hopefully, everything will work out.”

Dobbins is considered one of the top free agents in 2025.

From Harbaugh to Harbaugh: J.K. Dobbins Signs With Chargers After Disappointing Ravens Career

Dobbins had his share of struggles after entering the pro ranks as the Baltimore Ravens’ No. 55 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He tore his ACL in the 2021 preseason and was limited to just eight attempts after tearing his Achilles in the 2023 season opener. However, 2024 was a year of redemption for Dobbins after signing a one-year deal with Los Angeles in free agency.

And redeem himself, he did. Under new Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, Dobbins set career highs in rushing yards (905) and scrimmage yards (1,058) with the Bolts and tied his personal-best mark with nine rushing touchdowns.

Despite missing four games with a sprained MCL, Dobbins managed to finish the 2024 season inside the top 10 in rushing yards and touchdowns in the AFC. His 4.64 yards-per-carry average also ranked fourth in the AFC and 10th in the NFL (minimum 150 attempts).

Dobbins Finalist For NFL Comeback Player of the Year

Dobbins’ Chargers tenure has marked a significant comeback. After battling injuries in previous seasons, he proved doubters wrong by achieving career highs in rushing and total scrimmage yards.

These feats earned him a nomination for AP Comeback Player of the Year. He joins four other finalists: Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold, New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez, and Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

“That would be a blessing to get that award,” Dobbins told the Chargers’ website in Nov. 2024. “Out of all the people running against me, I feel like I would deserve it the most because I’m a running back, and I just had an Achilles injury last year, then a knee in a two-year span. I do think that would be pretty cool.”

The winner will be announced at the NFL Honors show on Thursday, Feb. 6.
