It was a special moment when NFL prospects Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders played under the guidance of their father, Deion Sanders, at Jackson State University. Despite both performing well under their dad, Deion Sanders has made it clear that his “favorite son” is actually wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr.
Horn appeared on “The Rich Eisen Show,” where he shared his candid reaction to Deion Sanders preferring him over Shedeur Sanders. It was a reminder of the strong bonds sports can create.

Jimmy Horn Jr. Impresses Deion Sanders at Colorado
“I laugh at a lot of things, man,” Horn said on The Rich Eisen Show when asked about his reaction to Deion Sanders’ playful revelation. Horn and Shedeur Sanders were both at the NFL scouting combine last week when a text message from Deion Sanders appeared on the big screen.
The message read, “Jimmy #1,” indicating that Deion Sanders was calling Horn his favorite son—even over Shedeur Sanders. Eisen translated it for the audience. While some might have expected Horn to celebrate the moment, he took it in stride with a humble laugh.
Horn played under Deion Sanders’ coaching during the 2023-24 season at Colorado, where he became a key contributor to the Buffaloes’ offense. Under Deion Sanders’ guidance, Horn emerged as a dynamic playmaker, adding depth to Colorado’s receiving corps.
He finished the season with 37 receptions for 441 yards and also contributed 282 yards on special teams. His production has improved his chances of being drafted into the NFL, and now, he waits to hear his name called.
Which NFL Team Could Draft Jimmy Horn Jr.?
Horn is currently projected to be drafted between the fourth and sixth rounds, though strong evaluations from NFL scouts could help him move up the board. Among the teams that could be interested in the explosive receiver, fans have speculated about the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Dallas Cowboys as potential landing spots.
However, rebuilding teams or those with young quarterbacks—such as the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans—may also see value in Horn’s skill set. Whatever happens, Horn can take pride in the trust Deion Sanders has in him, even over his own son. And perhaps, it’s bonds like these that will help Horn carve out a successful career in the NFL.
