There has been a lot of talk about whether Jim Harbaugh will make his return to the NFL after leading Michigan to their first national championship in 26 years.
After returning his alma mater to glory and issues with the NCAA, there has been much speculation that Harbaugh could be ready to coach in the NFL again, where he once went to three NFC championships in four years with the San Francisco 49ers.
According to the betting odds, where is Harbaugh expected to be coaching next season?
Where Is Jim Harbaugh Coaching Next Season? Los Angeles Chargers Are the Betting Favorites
DraftKings Sportsbook has odds posted for where Harbaugh will be coaching next season, and the Los Angeles Chargers are +150 favorites over a return to Michigan at +350.
The Chargers are also the favorites at DraftKings to be Bill Belichick’s next team, but they obviously won’t land both head coaches.
This just demonstrates how appealing the Chargers’ job is to a high-profile head coach. Although they’re coming off a 5-12 season and enter the 2024 offseason more than $35 million over the salary cap, this is a very attractive opening because they already have a franchise quarterback on the roster in Justin Herbert.
Following the Chargers and Michigan, the Washington Commanders (+600) and Las Vegas Raiders (+650) have the next-shortest odds to land Harbaugh as their coach next season.
The Commanders, with the second overall pick and brand new ownership group, are very well positioned to rebuild their roster and organization successfully. Meanwhile, the Raiders present more of an opportunity to win right away after they finished the season 5-4 in their final nine games.
Of the NFL teams with an opening at head coach, the Carolina Panthers are the biggest long shot at +800.

Given the expected competition for Harbaugh’s services, if he were to leave Michigan, the Panthers would be at the very bottom of that list because of their owner’s horrible reputation and a terribly constructed team that owes their first overall pick to the Chicago Bears.
