‘I’m Ready To Go to Free Agency, Bro’ – Jets Starter Can’t Wait To Leave New York and Find Greener Pastures

    Published on

One New York Jets defender cannot wait for free agency. What did he say after the embarrassing loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday?

New York Jets cornerback D.J. Reed cannot get out of town quick enough. He is ready for free agency, and it does not look like the Jets will have the right to match any offer. He wants no part of Woody Johnson’s team.

D.J. Reed Cannot Wait To Be Out of New York, Free Agency Awaits

Reed left the locker room on Sunday afternoon after giving interviews, and the good thing for him is he only has one more game to play as a member of the Jets.

“Yeah bro, I’m gonna go to free agency,” Reed said. “I was going to have 10 picks. We were going to be elite. I thought we’d be up in the score late in games and teams would have to throw the ball and I’m going to make plays on the ball.”

He expected better from the Jets this season, and it was all for naught.

It never happened. The Jets were grounded all season and lost to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and gave up 40 points in doing so, losing 40-14. The game was never close.

Reed will be one of the more sought-after veteran corners in free agency. He told Go Long’s Tyler Dunne on Sunday, “I’m ready to go see what’s next for me.”

Forget seeing Reed at MetLife Stadium next season, unless he is a member of the visiting team (or the Giants).

Dunne wrote that Jets players could not get out of their uniforms quickly enough — they are looking forward to the day they don’t have to put them back on. Too many players are looking for one-way tickets out of New York and want to play elsewhere.

Dunne said, “Everyone associated with the Jets — Woody Johnson, Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, etc. — should’ve known this experiment was doomed. This farce of an organization ceded creative control to a 41-year-old who can no longer move in the pocket. Jet humiliation knows no limits.

“Instead of gearing up for an expected playoff run, this team began Sunday’s festivities by strutting through the tunnel at Highmark Stadium with ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ blaring from a boombox. Then, they took a look at their quarterback and realized there’s nothin’ left. [Aaron] Rodgers played arguably the worst game of his 20-year pro career.”

The 41-year-old Rodgers has been a bust since landing in the Big Apple. He has given no hope to Jets fans. Superstar wide receiver Garrett Wilson is also speculated to have a frayed relationship with Rodgers, causing further volatility with the Jets’ offseason.
