It appears as though New York Jets star wide receiver Garrett Wilson is ready for a new contract. According to recent reports by senior writer Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, Wilson is looking for a contract extension from the Jets and aims to become one of the top-paid players at his position.
Wilson is entering the fourth year of his rookie contract and is looking to increase his current cap hit in his next deal. Next season, Wilson is set to earn a cap hit of approximately $6.5 million, well below what comparable receivers around the National Football League are currently earning.

Recent News on Garrett Wilson’s Next Contract
The popular NFL news X (formerly Twitter) profile @NFL_DovKleiman detailed the report by Rosenblatt and outlined how Wilson could potentially be looking for upwards of $30 million annually in his next contract.
“Star WR Garrett Wilson wants to stay with the Jets and ‘re-up’ on a long-term deal worth over $30 million per season, per @ZackBlatt. That would make him a Top 5 paid WR in the NFL,” the post highlighted.

Since entering the league, Wilson has been one of the best and most consistent receivers in the entire NFL. He has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three NFL seasons, despite being the victim of poor quarterback play since the beginning of his time with the franchise. Whether it be Zach Wilson or Aaron Rodgers, neither quarterback has made it easy on the receiver Wilson; however, he has still performed impressively each campaign.
What Could Garrett Wilson’s Next Contract Look Like?
If the previous reports by Rosenblatt of Wilson looking for upwards of $30 million AAV are true, he would become one of the top-paid receivers in all of football and would put himself in the same financial category as Justin Jefferson ($35 million), CeeDee Lamb ($34 million), A.J. Brown ($32 million), and Amon-Ra St. Brown ($30 million).
The wide receivers listed above are all elite talents who have all been close to or surpassed 1,500 receiving yards in a season, something Wilson, despite being ultra-talented, has not yet done to date in his career.
This fact has led the popular sports contract and financial tracking company Spotrac to have Wilson’s market value much lower than those players highlighted above. According to their projection, Wilson’s market value is closer to a three-year, $69,690,801 extension, or $23 million AAV, a value comparable to star wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr., Terry McLaurin, DeVonta Smith, and Jaylen Waddle.
