Sauce Gardner is facing Jets fans’ wrath after their team lost embarrassingly against the Arizona Cardinals (31-6). The cornerback didn’t help his case by deleting his initial reaction.
In the second quarter, Gardner failed to bring down Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, eventually leading to the Cardinals scoring a touchdown. The fans want the CB to take accountability but it has not been a dream response.
Jets Fans Are Shocked as Sauce Gardner Refuses To Take the Blame
One NFL reporter posted a few stats from the game, highlighting that the Jets’ defense had missed 20 tackles. He highlighted that Gardner’s miss was the costliest. The two-time Pro Bowler replied to the reporter on X (previously Twitter) in a since-deleted tweet.
“Yup I’m 100% sure me missing that tackle at the beginning of the 2nd quarter for a gain of 17 yards was the costliest miss and that is in fact what lost us the game,” tweeted Gardner.
The 2022 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year deleted the tweet soon after, however, one fan had managed to screenshot it. The fan posted the screenshot and wrote, “From top to bottom the Jets are a disaster. No accountability. No leadership. Immaturity. Bunch of names & not a team. It’s embarrassing.”

Gardner Talks About the Missed Tackle Against the Cardinals
While fans called out Gardner for being irresponsible and not taking accountability, the 24-year-old talked about the missed tackle with the media. “I know I missed one today,” Gardner said after the game. “I’ve got to make that tackle. It was good coverage. I’ve just got to make that tackle.”
“As a team, I don’t know. I know we always practice it — D-line, [linebackers], secondary — we always practice it. It starts with me. I’ve got to be better. I’ve got to make the tackle,” he added.
The Jets will be back at home for their Week 11 match against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday.
