Earlier this week, reports began emerging that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was in London, England and looking to purchase the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. Though these rumors have since been debunked by top Tottenham reporters, some football fans have hinted that Spurs supporters may be lucky that they avoided the ownership of Jones.
At this time, Tottenham currently ranks seventh in the English Premier League after an up-and-down start to the campaign. However, the North London club is the eighth-most valuable soccer franchise in the world ($3.2 billion) according to Forbes and has one of the most impressive stadiums in the sporting world. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has become the host of NFL games, concerts, and other major events since opening in 2019.
What Did Football Fans Say About the Jones – Spurs Rumors?
On Wednesday, trusted Tottenham reporter Alasdair Gold made clear that the Jones purchase rumors were unfounded.
“Told there’s nothing in the Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, buying Spurs links.” he said.
In response, one social media user highlighted their perception of Jones in regard to Spurs.
“He’s an American Levy, a specialist in failure when it comes to on field success,” they outlined.

Why Was Jones Compared to Levy?
The alluded-to Levy refers is British businessman and current Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy. Though he has been instrumental in Tottenham’s new stadium and the increased popularity of the club, Spurs has not won a major trophy since the 2008 campaign.
In many respects, this is a similar situation as to the one currently in Arlington, Texas. Despite being widely considered as one of the largest and most popular NFL franchises, the Cowboys have not had any playoff success in recent years and last won a Super Bowl at the conclusion of the 1995 season.
As a result, supporters of both clubs have been more vocal lately about the direction their respective teams are headed in. For Tottenham, supporters have been calling for the removal of Levy, including bringing signs to and chanting during matches. Meanwhile, Cowboys fans have been clear that the on-field product in recent seasons is not good enough and needs to be improved.
While it remains to be seen if either executive eventually steps down from their current decision-making roles, it is evident that supporters of both franchises are not impressed with the state of their club’s leadership and are pushing for change.
