Jerome Ford Injury Update: Latest on Browns RB After Exiting Game vs. Dolphins in Week 17

Jerome Ford suffered a right ankle injury in the second quarter in Week 17. What's the latest update on the Browns' running back?

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford was injured in the second quarter of the team’s Week 17 contest vs. the Miami Dolphins. Below are the latest updates on Ford’s condition.

    What Happened to Jerome Ford?

On a carry with 6:06 remaining in the second quarter, Ford was awkwardly sandwiched between a pair of Dolphins. He tried to awkwardly hop off favoring his right ankle, but then went down and was examined by trainers.

Ford entered the blue medical tent for further evaluation then hobbled off to the locker room soon after.

The team immediately dubbed him questionable to return with the right ankle injury. He had six carries for 22 yards at the time of his departure.

But in a rare piece of good injury news for the Browns, Ford was back on the field to start the second half. His return qualified as a mild surprise after sitting out the remainder of the first half.

Potential Fantasy Fallout From Ford’s Injury

Ford has been the unquestioned lead back in Cleveland with Nick Chubb done for the season (foot), but the quality of that role with Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center is questionable at best.

D’Onta Foreman has been used as a pounding back at times and adding volume to that role makes him the next man up, but don’t mistake that to mean he is a good fantasy football option. Red-zone trips are few and far between for the Browns these days, and Foreman is unlikely to return top-30 value without the aid of a short touchdown plunge.

If you’re playing meaningful games at this point in the season, you’re well aware that the non-Jameis Winston version of this offense is one we’d rather not touch.
