Jayden Daniels’ Stats Bode Well for Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft Campaign

    Published on

Jayden Daniels and Shedeur Sanders' stats look nearly identical in one key area, inspiring optimism for Sanders' upcoming arrival in the NFL.

Following the Washington Commanders’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round, football fans have begun discussing the similarities between Jayden Daniels and Shedeur Sanders’ college careers.

In a social media post to X, numerous similar statistics were shared regarding Daniels’ 2023 LSU season and Sanders’ 2024 Colorado Buffaloes campaign. The similarities and comparisons to Daniels will be welcomed by those who are fans of Sanders or those with teams in the market for a quarterback this offseason.

Daniels is expected to win Offensive Rookie of the Year for his remarkable campaign with the Commanders. Not only are his stats impressive, but his dominant performance on Wild Card Weekend has set up a Divisional Round showdown against the Detroit Lions next weekend.

    Jayden Daniels, Shedeur Sanders Comparison

One individual began discussing how similar Daniels and Sanders’ turnover-worthy plays and pressure-to-sack ratios were in their final year of college football.

In addition, they ended the post with a hashtag indicating where they believe Sanders should be selected in next April’s NFL Draft.

“Jayden Daniels for LSU in 2023: 1.6% Turnover Worthy Plays, 20.2% Pressure to Sack ratio. Shedeur Sanders in 2024: 1.2% Turnover Worthy Plays, 20.5% Pressure to Sack ratio. #Titans,” they stated.

The Tennessee Titans currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Though a trade is possible, the Titans are in desperate need of stronger quarterback play. Quarterbacks Will Levis and Mason Rudolph have proven that they are not the long-term answers at the position for the Titans and head coach Brian Callahan.

Will the Tennessee Titans Draft Sanders?

In Pro Football Network’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Jacob Infante agreed that the Titans were in need of a franchise QB. Yet, in his opinion, that player won’t be Sanders.

Instead, Infante believes that the Titans will select Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall selection. As a result, he had Sanders going No. 3 overall to the New York Giants after Ward and his Buffaloes teammate Travis Hunter.

“Given the struggles the Giants experienced at quarterback this year, it would be surprising if their 2025 first-round pick didn’t go towards that position,” Infante predicted.

“Sanders is an accurate, tough, and intelligent quarterback who can efficiently distribute the football at a high level. The Giants would need to invest heavily in an offensive line around Sanders, as he holds onto the ball too long and doesn’t have the elite physical upside to get away with it.

“As a passer who can methodically move the ball down the field, though, there’s potential for him to be a franchise quarterback.”
