‘There’s a Reason He’s Not Playing for Alabama’ – Jaxson Dart Faces Analyst’s Wrath While Discussing the Browns’ Best Option Ahead of the Draft

Quarterback Jaxson Dart is an interesting option in the upcoming draft. However, one Browns analyst thinks taking him high is a bad idea.

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart is an interesting prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Although he’s not ranked among the top quarterbacks by most draft experts, there is an increasing number of scouts who have started to include him in their top 10 and even top five at the position. One analyst even went as far as to suggest that Dart could be an option for the Cleveland Browns.

Cleveland Browns Analyst Tells Guest That Drafting Jaxson Dart Would Be a Bad Idea

NFL analyst Tony Grossi appeared on “ESPN Cleveland” to talk about the Browns and the upcoming NFL Draft. He talked about the Browns’ need for a young QB and that they could consider passing on Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders and go with Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart.

“It doesn’t have to be Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. There’s Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart.”

The host, Tony Rizzo, disagreed with the take, saying that taking Dart No. 2 overall would be a huge case of overthinking.

“Jalen Milroe, you told me sucks. You didn’t want him at all, and Jaxson Dart played for Mississippi for God’s sake. There’s a reason he’s not playing for Alabama or Georgia or Ohio State. You guys like him. He looks good on tape. Against who? Mississippi State?

“Guys, you’re overthinking. You want to believe that you can find the diamond in the rough. The least path to resistance of bleeping up is to take one of these two kids. I’m telling you. You’re gonna overthink it just like the Browns.”

The issue many analysts are having when looking at NFL teams that need a young quarterback is that this is not considered to be a strong quarterback class. The top QBs — Colorado’s Sanders and Miami’s Ward — both have flaws that teams are worried about.

As a result, some draft experts and media members have started to look at some of the other quarterbacks in case they may have been under-scouted and potentially have a higher upside.

Dart has risen on draft boards significantly in recent weeks. Notably, he received a ton of attention after completing 27 of 35 passes for 404 yards and four touchdowns against Duke in the Gator Bowl.

It was an incredible performance, but as Rizzo would argue, it wasn’t against top competition. It remains unclear where Dart will go in the draft and whether he’s worth a top pick.
