The Denver Broncos‘ starting RB left the game against the Cleveland Browns on the Broncos’ first offensive drive. What do we know about Javonte Williams’ injury? How could this impact the Denver offense, and what kind of fantasy impact could this have?
Javonte Williams Injury Update
Williams left the game with an apparent neck injury and is questionable to return. The third-year player has not gone back to the locker room, however.
He returned to the field on the Broncos’ next offensive drive, and there was no singular play that signified a potential injury. His status is worth keeping an eye on, considering the uneasy nature of neck injuries.

Things have gone from promising to frustrating since his rookie season. He was an explosive and productive rookie, even though he was inconsistent. But he managed only four games in 2022 after tearing his ACL, LCL, and posterolateral corner in Week 4.
Williams has been banged up in 2023 as well. He’s battled a hip flexor injury this season along with trying to get back to his old self after the knee injury.
Potential Fantasy Impact
For fantasy managers who may have been frustrated that Samaje Perine scored a touchdown in the first quarter against the Cleveland Browns, Williams’ injury may have been the reason why.
Williams appeared to be establishing himself as the clear top option in this Denver backfield with 12+ fantasy point performances in three out of his last four games, but his injury definitely opens the door for both Perine and Jaleel McLaughlin to see an expanded role should Williams miss any time in the near future.
