Officials Are Flagged by Fans for Bad Calls in Texans-Chiefs Game

The Texans thought they returned a Patrick Mahomes fumble for a touchdown on Saturday. However, the officials negated the fumble by saying Mahomes’ arm was going forward and it was an incomplete pass.

While Mahomes’ arm was moving forward, Texans defensive end Denico Autry visibly hit Mahomes’ elbow, causing him to lose his grip. The Texans picked up the bouncing ball and returned it for an apparent touchdown. However, the call was overturned due to Derek Barnett’s arm hitting Mahomes in the helmet. To add insult to injury, they also called a roughing the passer penalty on the Texans.

The Chiefs then proceeded to march down the field and score a touchdown to take the lead. The Chiefs won the game by one score, 27-19.

Whitlock took to social media to vent his frustration over the calls which seem to be helping the Chiefs on their way to a three-peat. He was not the only one to take to social media.

“The Refs to the rescue! This decision changed the outcome of the first half,” one person shared in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Mahomes clearly had no control of the ball when his arm moved forward.”

This was not the only one. Many people took to social media to vent.

“NFL referee saw Mahomes fumble and immediate threw the flag and called roughing the passer,” added another. “It’s really getting embarrassing now”

Another person posted on X accusing of a pattern of referees bailing out the Chiefs and Mahomes when mistakes are made and calls can be overturned.

“If you don’t believe Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs don’t get bailed out by the refs all the time just watch that play,” one person shared on X.

The officiating in the game was also blasted by the Chiefs as they believed there were calls that were missed against the Texans.

Chiefs safety Justin Reid believes the Texans should have received at least one more penalty.

After the game, Reid posted a photo on his Instagram page which showed a Texans player with his hands around Reid’s neck. Reid did not take it too kindly on social media.

“This s— gotta be holding,” Reid posted on Instagram.
