Jason Kelce Shares Hilarious Advice for Saquon Barkley This Season: ‘Do Not Go Down at the 1-Yard Line’

Jason Kelce is no longer with the Philadelphia Eagles, but that didn't stop him from sharing funny advice with running back Saquon Barkley.

Jason Kelce is no longer a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, but that’s not stopping him from sharing advice with new running back Saquon Barkley.

Kelce retired at the beginning of March after a successful 13-year career with Philadelphia. In free agency, the Eagles signed Barkley, formerly of the New York Giants, to a three-year deal worth $37.75 million.

While Kelce won’t be blocking for Barkley on the field, he still had some advice for Philadelphia’s new feature back.

Jason Kelce Gives Advice to Saquon Barkley

Kelce, who famously was not the biggest fan of the patented “Brotherly Shove” or “Tush Push” play from last season, gave Barkley some funny advice as he prepares to suit up for the Eagles.

Kelce was not a fan of the Tush Push because of the physical strain it caused him in his later years and projected new center Cam Jurgens will likely appreciate this advice.

“Do not go down at the 1-yard line,” Kelce told Barkley during an appearance on the “New Heights Podcast.”

If Barkley were to go down at the 1-yard line, it’s likely that Eagles coach Nick Sirianni would dial up the Tush Push instead of letting his running back punch it in.

Jason’s brother, Travis, definitely got a kick out of that funny piece of advice, stating, “They didn’t ban it,” while laughing about the Tush Push, which will not be outlawed despite speculation earlier this year.

“Even you dreaded the play a little bit?” Travis asked his brother.

Jason proceeded to explain that whenever the running back was ruled down at the 1-yard line, he would apologize in the huddle, knowing that the unstoppable Tush Push would inevitably be the play call.

Barkley assured both Kelce brothers that he will find a way to get into the end zone. During his six seasons with the Giants, Barkley rushed for 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns. Seven of those touchdowns came against the Eagles.

“A little extra motivation there,” Barkley said. “Just know, don’t go down at the 1. Gotta find a way to get in the end zone.”

Barkley elaborates that he watched a lot of film of Miles Sanders during his time with the Eagles, and that he was aware of how many touchdowns were taken away from him.

“Just got to strain a little more,” Barkley said.
