Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has endured quite a journey leading up to this season. As a four-star recruit in 2021, Milroe wasn’t handed the starting job at Alabama and had to overcome adversity to secure his role as the team’s QB in 2024.
Milroe is off to a strong start this season and is quickly rising up draft boards. Let’s take a look at Milroe’s performance in 2024, his projected landing spot in our latest mock draft, player comparisons, and more.
Where Did Jalen Milroe Land in Our Most Recent NFL Mock Draft?
In Pro Football Network NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings’ latest seven-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Milroe was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers.
Here is what Cummings had to say about Milroe landing in Carolina:
“Milroe has always been a top-flight physical talent, but he exploded into the QB1 conversation with his showing against Georgia. Just as impressive as his elite athleticism and his rocket arm were his decisive nature, quick processing, and clean mechanics.
“In the modern NFL, unicorn QB prospects can help teams get ahead. The Panthers saw the inverse of this effect with Bryce Young. Milroe presents a massive upgrade in raw talent, with the dual-sided ability to elevate the offense in all phases.
“In this scenario, Young would inevitably be traded. In this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins make the move to secure Young — a solid scheme fit who provides insurance for Tua Tagovailoa.”
Milroe’s Best Landing Spots in the NFL
No player in college football has enjoyed a meteoric rise up draft boards quite like Milroe has this season. Milroe has exceeded expectations for Alabama and has now inserted himself in the conversation to potentially be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Here are three potential landing spots for Milroe in the NFL:
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are an absolute mess. While the experience with Young hasn’t had any success in Carolina, the Panthers would be wise to take a chance on another Alabama QB in Milroe. Panthers head coach Dave Canales was able to work his magic with Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield; it would be fun to see what he could do with Milroe’s skill set.
Jalen Milroe's eyes continue to thoroughly impress me. He's not automatic yet, but the growth he's shown from 23 to 24 has been EXPONENTIAL.

New York Giants
With a 2-5 start to the regular season, a dreaded “vote of confidence” from ownership toward Brian Dabol and Joe Schoen, and Daniel Jones falling to a 46.5 QBR on the season, a fresh start for Big Blue could be highlighted by a new face at QB1. The Panthers and Giants actually face each other in Week 10 in a matchup that could determine which team has a better shot at selecting the new face of the franchise.
Tennessee Titans
It’s becoming clearer with each passing week that Will Levis isn’t the answer at QB in Tennessee. There’s a legitimate chance that the Tennessee Titans will finish with the worst record in the NFL, and Milroe would obviously be there for the taking. If he continues to play at an elite level, Tennessee could select Milroe with the top overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Milroe’s Scouting Report
Here’s a glimpse at Cummings’ scouting report on Milroe, who has since enjoyed a significant rise up draft boards due to his elite dual-threat ability:
“Milroe has all of the raw talent to be a future NFL starter. He’s a superlative athlete and competitor with blistering speed, explosiveness, and agility. He also has an extremely strong arm with good angle freedom and elasticity.
“Going further, NFL teams will be sold on Milroe’s toughness and resolve as a leader. He could have faded away after being benched early in the 2023 season by Saban. But a week later, Milroe returned and became Alabama’s most important player down the stretch.”
Milroe’s 2024 Season Stats and Game Breakdowns
Although Alabama is coming off a disappointing loss, Milroe has exceeded expectations thus far. He has dominated for the Crimson Tide as he continues to showcase the dual-threat ability that makes him such an enticing quarterback prospect at the next level.
Here’s how Milroe has performed through his first five games of the season in 2024.
Completions: 121
Attempts: 177
Completion Percentage: 68.4%
Passing Yards: 1,722
Passing Touchdowns: 13
Interceptions: 6
Rushing Attempts: 91
Rushing Yards: 330
Rushing Touchdowns: 11
Milroe’s most impressive performance came against the Georgia Bulldogs in what appeared to be a blowout victory. While Georgia was able to climb back into the game and make things interesting, Milroe put on a showcase against one of the top teams in the nation.
Milroe completed 27 of his 33 passes for 374 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. While his passing numbers certainly stood out, it was his effort on the ground that was most impressive. Milroe had 16 rushing attempts for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
When Is Milroe Playing Next?
Milroe and the No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide host No. 21 Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3:30 ET. This game will air on ABC and ESPN+.
The Crimson Tide need to right the ship after falling to then-No. 11 Tennesse last week and picking up their second loss of the season. It’s the middle of an extremely challenging three-game set for Alabama with three-straight ranked opponents as No. 8 LSU looms next week.
