Jalen Hurts Injury Update: Latest on Eagles QB After Exiting Game vs. Commanders in Week 11

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left the team’s Thursday night game versus the Washington Commanders. What’s the latest on the Eagles QB1?

    What Happened to Jalen Hurts?

UPDATE: Hurts was reportedly evaluated for a concussion but cleared to return, according to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo.

Hurts played the entire first half but was sent to the blue medical tent for evaluation at the end of the Eagles’ final second-quarter drive. Sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung noted that he was being evaluated for a potential head injury.

Hurts took a hit from a pair of Washington defenders as he fell to the ground, likely triggering the protocol.

The good news is that Hurts jogged off to the locker room as the half expired with no medical attention nearby. That doesn’t necessarily mean that he cleared concussion protocol, but it does suggest it’s not an immediately severe situation.

Hurts went 10-for-19 for 101 pass yards in the first half, while adding five rushes for 23 yards. The Eagles had trouble finishing drives, with Jake Elliott going 1-for-3 on field goals as Philly trailed 7-3 at the half.

Fantasy Impact If Hurts is Out

It goes without saying that this offense would function differently under Kenny Pickett than Hurts. Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown are featured pieces that would shift down in their respective tiers, but nothing would change for you, the fantasy manager — you’re playing both.

DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert lose some scoring equity and would become more matchup-plays than lineup-locks.

The backup quarterback is Kenny Pickett, who has appeared in two games of mop-up duty, throwing three total passes. Pickett would not be a viable fantasy option on his own, though the Eagles’ weaponry far exceeds what he played with over his two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
