Former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky believes that the upcoming Super Bowl contest against the Kansas City Chiefs will be the toughest test for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts since the last time these two teams played in the Super Bowl.
While appearing on the popular show “Get Up” on Feb. 4, Orlovsky explained why he does not expect the Chiefs to play to any of Hurts’ strengths in the game.
What Did Dan Orlovsky Say About Jalen Hurts?
Orlovsky outlined how he thought the Washington Commanders played to Hurts’ strengths in the NFC Championship Game.
“It’s Jalen Hurts’ biggest challenge since that Super Bowl because the reasons and the moments he’s played well this season and recently has been when teams have kinda just played that one on one coverage.
It’s kinda what Washington did in the NFC Championship game,” he stated.
However, Orlovsky also made it clear that he did not expect the Chiefs or defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to set up the defense this way in Super Bowl 59.
“He is not going to get that against the Kansas City Chiefs. This game is going to come down to, can Jalen Hurts do two things. Number one, can he see the picture change? Spags and this Kansas City defense is the biggest lying defense in the league, you as a quarterback get to the line of scrimmage, you think you know what’s happening or what they’re in, and it totally changes after the snap,” he added.
Will the Chiefs present Jalen Hurts with the toughest challenge of his career so far?

Super Bowl 59 Preview
Hurts and the Eagles have a Super Bowl 57 rematch against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. When these two teams last played in the Super Bowl two seasons ago, Hurts had arguably one of the greatest quarterback performances in recent Super Bowl memory. He finished the game with 304 yards passing and one passing touchdown, while adding 70 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
This season, Hurts has had an up and down campaign for the Eagles, however, he had a stellar showing in the NFC Championship Game. Though the team now has a run-heavy approach with superstar running back Saquon Barkley on the team, Hurts will need to get A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith involved, and be a major contributor himself, for the Eagles to defeat the Chiefs this weekend.
Super Bowl 59 takes place at the Caesars Superdome on Feb. 9, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. with Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady on the call.
