In his first season with the Las Vegas Raiders last season, Jakobi Meyers put up decent yet unspectacular numbers. He did finish with 70 or more receptions for the second time in his career and had his third consecutive season with at least 800 receiving yards.
But his inability to step up his game a notch in 2023 may lead some to question just where to select a player of Meyers’ caliber.
Here’s a look at the fantasy football outlook for the upcoming season for Jakobi Meyers.
Jakobi Meyers’ Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
After his first four seasons were spent with the New England Patriots, Meyers moved on to the Raiders in 2023, and put up somewhat acceptable numbers for a No. 2 wide receiver. Over 70 receptions (71) and over 800 receiving yards (807) has been around the norm for Meyers over the last few seasons.
At the very least, fantasy managers pretty much know what to expect from Meyers when they scout him for their respective fantasy drafts. Over his last four seasons, Meyers has had no fewer than 700 receiving yards but has never had 900 receiving yards in a season.
He has averaged at least 50 receiving yards a game in each of his last four seasons, while never averaging 60 or more receiving yards a game.
He did have over 100 targets (106) for the second time of his career in 2023, with a respectable catch percentage of 67%. Again, this is right around what he has done over his career. Over his last four seasons, Meyers’ catch percentage has been between 65% and 73% each season.
What should please fantasy managers who are considering Meyers is the fact that last season was his most productive when it came to getting in the end zone. Not only were his eight receiving touchdowns last season a career-high, but he also added a pair of rushing scores, giving him a career-high 10 total touchdowns in 2023.
On the other hand, five of those eight touchdown catches came over the first seven weeks of the season, so it’s fair to question if he can be productive getting in the end zone throughout an entire season.
Is Jakobi Meyers a Good Fantasy Pick?
Meyers comes into the season as the No. 51 wide receiver in the Pro Football Network’s 2024 Fantasy Wide Receiver Rankings.
Davante Adams is the Raiders’ No. 1 wide receiver, and that will not be changing anytime soon. In Meyers, the Raiders know they have a solid No. 2 receiver to play alongside Adams, and given his numbers in recent years, they know what they can expect from him.
On the plus side for Meyers’ fans, it would be in the Raiders’ best interest to have Meyers be a productive part of their offense. Last season, they were 6-2 in games when Meyers scored at least one touchdown.
The Raiders do head into this season unsettled at quarterback, with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell in a battle for the starting job, so that is a situation worth monitoring for fantasy managers when evaluating Raiders for their fantasy lineups.
At least with Meyers, you know what you’re going to get. Now, the question is if it’s enough to take him in your fantasy draft.
