The Dallas Cowboys‘ offense is coming off one of their most underwhelming performances all season as they prepare for Week 16 against the Miami Dolphins.
What Went Wrong for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15?
The Cowboys’ offense had a season-low 134 receiving yards on 21 receptions last week against the Buffalo Bills. However, due to the wet weather conditions, the offense wasn’t going into this game expecting to pass the ball.
Not only was the pass not clicking against Buffalo, neither was the run.
Dallas’ offense only had 89 rushing yards in this game, despite Tony Pollard and Rico Dowdle taking a combined total of 56 snaps out of the Cowboys’ 57 total offensive plays in the game.
The Bills also beat the Cowboys in the battle of time of procession because Dallas’ offense wasn’t extending drives. During the game, Dak Prescott relied heavily on his security blankets by passing the ball to CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson.
Ferguson had 44 yards on six receptions in the game and fought to do everything he could with the struggling offense around him.
The Cowboys have another quality opponent on the road this week with the Dolphins, giving them a chance to put old narratives to rest. But to the second-year tight end, Ferguson sees every week as a new opportunity — win or lose.

The battle for redemption has already started for the Cowboys by watching tape and assessing what needs to be cleaned up within their game.
Nevertheless, the next step is moving forward and focusing on what’s ahead, starting with Miami.
Win Is the Name of the Game for Jake Ferguson
Ferguson knows that the team needs to rebound against the Dolphins this week, saying it’s apparent that they believe in their scheme. But the true battle is within themselves and going back to what has made the Cowboys’ offense a consistent threat all season.
“I think we just gotta prepare the right way this entire week, and trust our scheme and get back to Cowboy football, where we’re playing complementary for everybody, all 11, playing for the guy next to you, and not hurting ourselves,” said Ferguson.
Although the week’s storyline is the Cowboys’ struggles with winning on the road, Ferguson said it’s important to regardless of where you are, adding, “This is December football; this is where you separate yourselves.”
With only three weeks of the regular season remaining, the question is if there is preparation that can help the team win on the road. The Dallas TE said it all comes down to trusting themselves and playing complementary football in all three phases.
