The Jacksonville Jaguars had a good opportunity in the first quarter to take the lead against the Chicago Bears in London. However, wide receiver Gabe Davis dropped the ball in the red zone, and Jaguars fans expressed their unhappiness online.
Jaguars Fans Voice Displeasure With Gabe Davis
Davis was signed by the Jaguars in the offseason earlier this year. The 25-year-old Florida-born wide receiver signed a $39 million contract with Jacksonville, but now, fans are bemoaning spending that much on Davis after his latest touchdown dropped pass.
With less than five minutes remaining in the first quarter, quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw a pass that dissected the Bears’ defense from 30 yards out. Davis was the intended target, with the ball hitting his chest. However, the veteran WR was unable to firmly grab it.

Bears safety Elijah Hicks was in close distance and added pressure, which forced the former Buffalo Bills player to drop the ball.
“Gabe Davis doing Gabe Davis things,” captioned one NFL analyst for the clip. This was enough for the Jags fans to write off their new wide receiver.
“Gabe Davis is absolutely useless,” tweeted one fan.

“I promise you. You don’t hate Gabe Davis enough,” wrote a Jags fan.
Several more fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their opinions about cutting Davis from the roster.
“Get Gabe Davis out of Duval. He stinks out loud,” tweeted a fan.

Davis Scores Touchdowns as Game Slips Away From Jaguars
After this horrendous slip-up from the Jaguars’ wideout, Davis redeemed himself by scoring a couple of touchdowns. With the Bears leading 21-3 and six minutes on the clock in the third quarter, Lawrence once again found Davis.
This time, Lawrence threw a bombshell at the left pylon from 21 yards out. Davis jumped and clutched the ball to score his first touchdown as a member of the Jaguars.
Then, in the fourth quarter, Davis was once again the target. Davis was the recipient of a five-yard touchdown pass, but the game remained out of reach, with the Bears still ahead 35-16.
The pair of touchdowns turned out to be a case of too little, too late, as Jacksonville would go on to lose by that exact score at the Northumberland Development Project in London. Still, this late-stage performance from Davis should be enough to save him from the fury of Jaguars fans.
