Jacob Cowing Sings Praises of Senior Bowl Experience

Jacob Cowing had an exceptional week at the Senior Bowl and has spoken to the media about what he learned from the all-star game.

Arizona receiver Jacob Cowing enters the 2024 NFL Draft process as one of the most electric prospects available. After a strong week at the 2024 Senior Bowl, he’s now looking to put on a show at the NFL Scouting Combine — where the Arizona senior is expected to have exceptional testing numbers.

Speaking at the Combine, Cowing expressed how important the all-star circuit has been during his draft process and told the media what he learned from his week in Mobile.

Jacob Cowing Has High Praise for the Senior Bowl

The Senior Bowl is a milestone in the NFL Draft cycle where prospects compete in practice sessions and a game, hoping to improve their draft stock and impress NFL scouts.

It’s one of the biggest events on the NFL Draft calendar, with prospects invited to head to Mobile for a few days of practices, measurements, and interviews before an exhibition game. One of the 100+ players that competed this year, Cowing had high praise for the event.

Entering the week, Cowing was viewed as a potential Day 3 pick in the draft, with teams excited to see his burst, route running, and long speed. At just 5’8” and 165 pounds, he’s a smaller receiver, so it was noteworthy for him to demonstrate his skills.

Speaking in Indianapolis at the Combine, Cowing shared his thoughts on the overall Senior Bowl experience. The elusive WR said he took a lot from the process and enjoyed the week in Mobile.

“It was a great experience being able to meet some of the NFL legends who were able to play this game for a long time,” Cowing told the media. “Also to meet NFL coaches who are currently in the league right now as well, being able to pick their brains, understand the game of football at the next level, and what to look forward to.”

Cowing went into Senior Bowl week after a great season in which he totaled 90 receptions for 848 yards and 13 touchdowns. Additionally, in his five-year career spanning three years at UTEP and two at Arizona, the elusive receiver generated 316 receptions for 4,477 yards and 33 scores.

To further help elevate his 2024 NFL Draft stock, Cowing has showcased his twitchy athleticism and YAC ability.

The Arizona WR was having an outstanding week in Mobile until the Thursday practice session, where he was carted off the field with a lower leg injury. Cowing didn’t participate further at the Senior Bowl, but thankfully, the injury isn’t serious.

However, the ailment didn’t stop Cowing from maximizing his opportunity in Mobile, interacting with teams, coaches, and fellow prospects.

“I loved that experience, getting to know the guys who know what they’re doing in football. Everyone’s talented at the Senior Bowl,” Cowing said. “So, being able to get to know guys on a personal level as well. It is all just a great experience to get to meet everybody.”
