Izzy Smoke Beams With Pride as Husband Bo Nix Named the Denver Broncos’ Starting QB

Izzy Smoke took to social media to share her pride and support for her husband, Bo Nix, getting the starting quarterback job for the Denver Broncos.

Izzy Smoke and Bo Nix have been together since they met at Auburn University. The couple got married in 2022, and since then, she has been traveling with Nix, staying by his side as he hustles his way toward his dream of making it in the NFL. Now, Nix has achieved another milestone by being named the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

And by no surprise, Smoke is proud of this achievement, too.

Smoke took to Instagram on Aug. 21 to congratulate her husband through her story while beaming with pride. She shared a post from the NFL’s official Instagram account with the text, “So proud of him.”

Accompanying the post was some scripture, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established,” from Proverbs 16:3, a reflection on her beau’s hard work.

Nix was also excited by the news, and he gave special props to his head coach, Sean Payton.

Payton announced through a press conference that Nix will start for the Broncos this season, beginning Sept. 8 against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Broncos head honcho further commented on Nix’s selection over the experienced Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson. Payton told NFL.com, “I felt like, and I said this to you guys two weeks ago, you know, that room has been outstanding. Stidham, certainly with his experience, and then being able to work with Zach Wilson, all three of those guys. We’ve got some tough decisions as we get into the roster.”

The talented Nix was selected as the 12th overall pick this April with the hopes of resolving the Broncos’ quarterback issue. Wilson was added as a cushion, and many hoped for him to start, but Nix was impressive during the game against the Green Bay Packers last week. He completed 8 of 9 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.

The 24-year-old was ecstatic after the game and gave credit to the coach for his impressive performance. He said, “They were kind of keeping it within my comfort level, and that’s huge, especially for someone who’s trying to get in there and execute.”
