    Isiah Moore NFL Draft Profile

    • Position: Linebacker
    • School: North Carolina State
    • Year: Fifth-Year Senior

Moore was a three-star recruit out of Lloyd C. Bird High School in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Moore received a handful of offers before ultimately committing to and playing college football at North Carolina State.

As a freshman, Moore got involved immediately. He appeared in 12 games and played 671 snaps. Moore recorded 37 solo tackles, 32 assisted tackles, and 2.5 sacks.

After a similarly productive sophomore season, Moore had his best collegiate campaign as a junior. In 2020, Moore recorded 38 solo tackles, 56 assisted tackles, and three sacks.

Moore was on pace for roughly the same production as a senior before his season was cut short after six games due to a torn ACL.

Rather than declare for the 2022 NFL Draft, Moore opted to exercise his COVID year and returned to the Wolfpack for one more season.

As a fifth-year senior, Moore posted a career-best 40 solo tackles. He also added 42 assisted tackles and matched his three sacks from the 2020 season. Fifteen of Moore’s tackles were for a loss, which was the best mark of his college career as well.

Overall, Moore finished his college career with 161 solo tackles, 180 assisted tackles, 43.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and one interception.

Tony Pauline’s Scouting Report for Isaiah Moore

Strengths: Underrated LB with a three-down game. Instinctive, remains disciplined with assignments, and quickly locates the ball. Breaks down well, uses his hands to protect himself, and holds his ground against blocks or slides off them altogether to make the play.

Doesn’t bite on ball fakes, stacks well against the run, and is a stout tackler. Easily changes direction, moves well laterally, and attacks ball handlers. Fires upfield on the blitz and shows a closing burst.

Weaknesses: Possesses average ability in coverage. At times, makes his first move upfield and gets caught out of position.

Overall: Moore impressed me as a redshirt freshman and did a good job for the Wolfpack in a variety of defensive schemes. He possesses the athleticism to stay on the field on passing downs, though he needs to improve his ball skills. Moore comes with upside and could easily make a roster as a sixth or seventh linebacker.

NC State LB Isaiah Moore Current Draft Projection

On Tony Pauline’s Big Board, Moore ranked 168th overall and is projected to be drafted in the fifth round. With a 3.42 grade, he is Pauline’s ILB9 in this class.

Moore didn’t participate in any of the athleticism drills at the Combine. However, he did run at his pro day. Moore’s 40 time ranged between 4.62 and 4.68, which is pretty good for a guy his size.

College production is the most predictive indicator of NFL success. Moore started at linebacker for his final four years at college. His numbers were solid but not spectacular.

Fortunately, there are NFL teams interested him. Even as a Day 3 pick, Moore should be able to make an NFL roster. Whether he can emerge as a useful piece of an NFL defense is another story.

Ultimately, Moore showed enough promise to warrant a real chance to produce for an NFL team. I fully expect him to be drafted and win a roster spot. If he shows out at practice and improves, he could very well have a lengthy NFL career.
