Is Washington DE Bralen Trice Draft-Eligible?

    Published on

Bralen Trice has been an extremely productive edge rusher for Washington over the last two seasons. Could he finally enter the NFL Draft?

Washington edge rusher Bralen Trice has been one of the most productive players rushing the passer over the course of his college career. Trice’s ability to rush the passer has guided the Huskies to the National Championship.

The powerful rusher is a specialist in disrupting plays and should be viewed as one of the top edge players in the NFL Draft. Is Trice draft-eligible, and will he turn pro?

When Can Bralen Trice Declare for the NFL Draft?

As a redshirt junior, Trice can declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is expected to be one of the top players selected at his position and carries an early-round grade.

In fact, Trice has long been in the minds of NFL evaluators. Many expected him to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft with his draft stock at a career-high following the 2022 college football season, in which he put up nine sacks.

However, Trice opted to return to Washington in search of a Pac-12 Championship and to compete for the National Championship with the Huskies.

In 2023, the powerful edge-setter has recorded seven sacks, one forced fumble, and 46 total tackles. While initially it looks like Trice’s numbers have fallen, teams have become wise to his talent, and he has been doubled on many snaps.

Trice has been with the Huskies since he left Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2019, and he committed to Washington as a three-star recruit.

It took time for Trice to gear up to his now exceptional talent, and he didn’t play in a game until 2021. That season, he started just two games but played in 12. However, it was the 2022 season that Trice really grabbed the attention of scouts.

His powerful, physical play style makes him a wrecking ball off the edge. Trice displays a surprising ability to convert power to speed, and his explosive first step makes things happen. He is a pure disruptor with solid hand placement, a hardworking motor, and a wide-ranging, consistent rushing attack.

The 2024 edge class is full of prospects who have very different skill sets. The order in which they go will depend on the type of player the team needs, which could elevate Trice into the backend of the first-round discussion.

Currently, Trice is ranked No. 55 on the PFN 2024 NFL Draft Big Board and the sixth-ranked edge prospect in the class.
