Is Trevor Lawrence Playing Today? Jaguars QB To See More Preseason Snaps in Game 2?

Is Trevor Lawrence playing today? Let's take a look at the Jacksonville Jaguars QB and see how much action he may get in the team's second preseason game.

After playing two series against the Dallas Cowboys in the preseason opener, how likely are we to see Trevor Lawrence play in the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ second preseason contest? The Jaguars take on the Detroit Lions Saturday afternoon, and here’s all we know about Lawrence’s chances of suiting up.

Will Trevor Lawrence Play in Second Preseason Game?

All indications tell us that Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson and the rest of the offensive staff are set to get Lawrence and the Jaguars starters more valuable reps against the Lions on Saturday.

Last week against the Cowboys, Lawrence played two series. On those two drives, one resulted in an interception, and the other was a touchdown pass. Mixed reviews for the first outing, but something to build off for the young quarterback to take into preseason Game 2.

    Who Else Will Play?

Outside of Lawrence, the Jaguars have two other quarterbacks on the roster. The first signal-caller to get a look after Lawrence will be sixth-year veteran C.J. Beathard.

Beathard looks to be the front-runner as Lawrence’s backup in 2023. A solid performance in these last two preseason games will go a long way in securing that for the NFL journeyman.

The third and final quarterback on Jacksonville’s roster is Canadian-born Nathan Rourke. Rourke has spent most of his professional football playing for the BC Lions in the CFL, but he put the league on notice with a dazzling performance against the Cowboys in Week 1 of the preseason.

Rourke will need more of his impressive play if he wants to unseat Beathard as the Jaguars’ QB2, but overall good performance in these last two chances will go a long way in ensuring he sticks around in the NFL, even if it’s not in Jacksonville.
