The couple met in fifth grade when, as Lawrence describes it, they went on a weekend school trip to space camp. Ever since then, they have been joined at the hip. Trevor attended Clemson for college while Marissa enrolled at nearby Anderson University, located about 15 miles from Clemson.

During his time at Clemson, Lawrence won a national championship as a freshman and finished within the top 10 of the Heisman Trophy voting two straight years, including finishing second in 2020.

He passed for over 10,000 yards and 90 touchdowns in three years with only 17 interceptions. Before the NFL, Lawrence had only lost four games in his football career.

Lawrence proposed the summer before his final season at Clemson, and the wedding happened in the spring before the draft. On the evening before his wedding, Jaguars fans joined together to buy Lawrence and his bride a $300 toaster on their wedding registry.

When fans raised more than the needed amount, the extra money was donated to charity. With $20,000 from the Lawrences, donations totaled nearly $55K for area charities like Feeding Northeast Florida, K9s For Warriors, and 5 Star Veterans Center.

Jacksonville, Florida, is now their home. The Lawrences have applauded the community via social media.

“The Jax community is so amazing, and you guys really make us feel so welcomed,” Marrissa Lawrence said.
