The Divisional Round is over, and now there are only four teams remaining. Is there a Monday Night Football game tonight or do we need to wait until the weekend for more football?
Is there a Monday Night Football game tonight?
This past weekend, the Divisional Round saw a total of eight teams play each other. It all started on Saturday when the Los Angeles Rams traveled to Green Bay to take on the Packers. Aaron Rodgers and his offense were too much for the Rams defense with a banged up Aaron Donald. The connection between Rodgers and Davante Adams continues, and Green Bay won 32-18.
Saturday night we saw the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills. In what most thought would be a high scoring affair, it was actually the defenses that shined. Buffalo was able to get the win 17-3, but it was against a backup QB for most of the second half. Lamar Jackson needed to leave the game with a concussion.
Sunday’s Divisional Round Games
The first game on Sunday was between the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs. The game was more competitive than most thought it would be, but the big storyline here was the Patrick Mahomes injury. Kansas City came away with the 22-17 win, but they lost their star QB to a concussion. He is questionable next week. The Chiefs will have their rematch with the Bills, as the two teams met earlier this season (Week 6).
The final game of the weekend was between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints. In what was the battle of two Hall of Fame-worthy QBs, Tom Brady was able to get the win over Drew Brees. The Buccaneers’ defense stole the show, forcing Brees into throwing three interceptions in the game — the first time he had done so since 2017. Tampa Bay’s offense made just enough plays to sustain the victory.
