Will Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert be playing as a fantasy football option in Week 5, and what should be expected of him?

Will Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert be playing for your fantasy football team in Week 5? Mostert has missed most of the season thus far, but he could finally be active again for a Dolphins offense that desperately needs some kind of kick.

Will Raheem Mostert Be Active in Week 5?

Mostert has officially been removed from the Dolphins’ injury report and has no injury designation. He’s set to play for the first time since Week 1 this week, against the New England Patriots.

Mostert left Miami’s Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars early with a chest injury after accruing six carries for nine yards, as well as two receptions for ten yards. He never went on injured reserve, but he ended up missing the next three contests.

Without Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins’ offense will be relatively one-dimensional again. But at the very least, Mostert’s presence will give Miami one more option out of the backfield — out of many.

Mostert has been a reliable runner before for Miami, but at 32 years old, he may be lingering past the peak.

Raheem Mostert’s Fantasy Outlook This Week

Mostert’s return, in and of itself, is a good thing for Miami. However, his fantasy football outlook is very unclear, and there are many factors working against him in the quest for increased production.

Mostert is rejoining an RB rotation that has three other healthy options at the position: De’Von Achane, Jeff Wilson Jr., and rookie Jaylen Wright. Achane, Wright, and Mostert all have speed on their side and thus have big-play potential, but there are a lot of mouths to feed and not a lot of reps to go around if the Dolphins are playing catch-up.

To that end, it’s likely that the game script will be against the Dolphins early and often. The Dolphins were beaten handily by the Tennessee Titans last week, and the multiplicity of Mike McDaniel’s scheme is notably reduced with Tyler Huntley under center instead of Tagovailoa.

With only a skeleton of a passing game left with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, defenses will be much more comfortable forming stacked boxes, constricting the Dolphins’ offense as a whole. That doesn’t bode well for Mostert, who’s already sharing carries with three other players.

Overall, Mostert doesn’t have a strong fantasy outlook in Miami’s wounded offense. He has limited big-play potential, and that potential is marred by a lack of volume and a lack of support from the rest of the cast. He should only be in your lineup if there are no other options.
