Is Michigan TE Colston Loveland Eligible for the NFL Draft?
Loveland is not eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft. Players must be at least three years removed from high school to be eligible for the NFL Draft. Loveland has only played two seasons for the Wolverines.
Loveland will be eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft, as 2024 will mark his third accrued season at the collegiate level.
Loveland joined Michigan’s roster as a four-star recruit from Gooding, Idaho, in 2022. As a true freshman, he showed promise, catching 16 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns alongside future Dallas Cowboys draft pick Luke Schoonmaker.
In 2023, Loveland emerged as a central playmaking force for the Wolverines, hauling in 42 receptions for 585 yards and four scores in the team’s first 14 games.
Is Loveland a 2025 NFL Draft Prospect?
Loveland won’t get to challenge Brock Bowers, Ben Sinnott, Ja’Tavion Sanders, and others for early-round capital in the 2024 NFL Draft TE class. That said, excitement is already building about Loveland as a prospect in the 2025 cycle.
At around 6’5″, 245 pounds, Loveland has great size and length and is a smooth, streamlined athlete with exceptional explosiveness, flexibility, and change of direction as a route runner.

Not only that, but Loveland has also shown an enhanced knowledge of route running and spatial relationships for his age. He’s shown he can use throttle control and zone awareness to sit in open windows and manipulate spacing at stems with his smooth mobility.
Tight ends who can separate independently are rare and always valuable, but Loveland isn’t just an athlete. He’s also a stellar hands-catcher who’s shown he can use steely body control, hand-eye coordination, and timing to snare high-difficulty passes up the seam and in contested situations.
For now, Loveland is not NFL Draft eligible. But when the time comes, he could be a TE1 candidate in the 2025 NFL Draft cycle.
