Is Micah Parsons Playing Today? Update on His Status Ahead of Pivotal SNF Showdown vs. 49ers

Dallas Cowboys EDGE Micah Parsons has been dealing with a tweaked knee. Will he be good to go vs. the 49ers?

The much-anticipated Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers battle on Sunday Night Football already has a dilemma. Will Pro Bowl edge rusher Micah Parsons play?

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Is Micah Parsons Suiting Up? What’s the Latest on Cowboys All-Pro?

Parsons has been dealing with a tweaked knee from the Cowboys’ Week 4 rout of the New England Patriots. In that contest, Parsons played 44 snaps before dealing with the ailment.

Parsons has still not been given an injury designation by the Cowboys.

Signs are pointing that Parsons will be a full-go against the team that has knocked the Cowboys out of the playoffs in the last two years. Parsons was a full practice participant on Friday.

Before the knee injury, Parsons had delivered 14 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble, and eight quarterback hits in four games.

How Parsons Measures Up to the 2023 Version of the 49ers

The 49ers are one of those rare teams with the same ranking on scoring offense and defense, as they’re No. 3 in both categories.

If he suits up and is ready to go, Parsons will be facing the NFL’s second-best offense in yards.

But how has the 49ers fared in protecting quarterback Brock Purdy?

The second-year passer is yet to be intercepted this season. He has five touchdown throws and zero interceptions. However, through four games, the 49ers have surrendered seven sacks.

Furthermore, the 49ers have given up multiple sacks in two of their first four games — in the opener vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Thursday Night Football contest against the New York Giants.

Perhaps Parsons and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will pick up nuggets from the former game. That was the one that saw Purdy go down three times on sacks.

Another aspect of this rivalry game likely on the mind of Parsons is that he hasn’t recorded a sack against the 49ers yet. He can finally end that tally against the 49ers if he plays.
