The Queen of Christmas Will Be Featured On Netflix During First Game

Carey will perform her No. 1 holiday hit before the Chiefs vs. Steelers game on Christmas Day. However, she will have the hit pre-recorded as she canceled her live appearance at the game due to a recent illness.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine,“All I Want for Christmas is You” appears on Carey’s 1994 holiday album Merry Christmas. The pop vocalist has been celebrating the 30th anniversary of the record on her current Christmas Time Tour.

There are now three things that are certain in life: taxes, death, and that every December Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You will be inescapable. Whether you’re in a shopping mall or at an office party, whether you’re listening to the radio or a holiday streaming playlist, you know the festive season has begun when you hear the first notes of Carey’s classic song.

Netflix is pulling out all the stops for its inaugural NFL doubleheader. They have booked Beyoncé to perform at halftime of the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game in the singer’s hometown of Houston.

Their official press release shared some additional details around Carey’s performance.

“The holidays are synonymous with twinkling lights, glad tidings, and the emergence of a pop superstar who rings in the season on a high note — and the first few bars of a certain inescapable Christmas tune. It’s only fitting, then, that Mariah Carey will open the show at the first-ever NFL Christmas Gameday live on Netflix on Dec. 25.

The globally renowned artist, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, author, and philanthropist with more than 19 No. 1 singles to her name will bring her signature blend of glamour and Christmas cheer ahead of the marquee matchups.”

Unlike Carey’s performance, Beyoncé’s is slated to be live on the field at NRG Stadium.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” leads all downloads with 48 million official U.S. music streams in the week ending Dec. 19, a boost of 13%, according to Luminate.

What Time is Mariah Carey Performing on Christmas?

The Chiefs vs. Steelers game is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Christmas Day. Carey’s performance is expected to air beforehand, so fans can tune in to Netflix during the hour leading up to this exciting AFC matchup.

While Netflix hasn’t confirmed an exact time for Carey’s performance, fans should be ready to catch the iconic singer on their screens shortly before the game.
