Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been a strong fantasy football asset over the past few months and throughout the season. Addison has returned well above his expected points total for the season and has provided enormous value for fantasy managers who believed in him and drafted him.
However, those fantasy managers may have concerns after Addison left the game in the first quarter of the Vikings’ Week 16 defeat to the Detroit Lions and did not return. Addison suffered an ankle injury and is questionable to play today against the Green Bay Packers.
Will Addison play today against the Packers? What is the latest information regarding his ankle injury? And, if he does play today, what is his fantasy outlook against the Packers? Let’s answer all of these questions and see if we should start Addison in Week 16.
Is Jordan Addison Going To Play Week 17?
Addison left the game in the first quarter last week vs. the Lions and did not return due to an ankle injury, nor did he practice on Wednesday this week.
However, Addison returned to practice on Thursday and practiced again on Friday, albeit in a limited capacity.
Earlier this morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided an update on Addison’s injury. He posted on social media platform X, “#Vikings WR Jordan Addison (ankle) is listed as questionable and is playing today, source said.”
It seems, then, that Addison will play today against the Packers. However, what does this mean for his fantasy outlook in Week 17? Let’s take a closer look at his matchup against the Packers in more detail.
What Is Addison’s Potential Fantasy Outlook for Today?
Addison came into Week 16 as the WR15 in fantasy football. However, his injury last week in the first quarter saw him drop to the WR21. He has still managed to produce WR2 numbers despite the return of lead receiver Justin Jefferson from injury.
According to our PFN Consensus Rankings, Addison is the WR63 at the time of writing. This is probably due to him being unlikely to play for much of the week. I would suggest checking these rankings closer to game time to see where his updated ranking for the week is.

The Packers allow 28.1 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, which is the 15th-most allowed by NFL teams entering Week 17. On the other hand, Addison is tied for 15th in terms of red-zone targets (tied with A.J. Brown and DeAndre Hopkins) with 15. He has also posted a respectable 826 receiving yards so far in his rookie season and could take a giant step to record a 1,000-yard rookie season with a good performance today.
However, there is some uncertainty once again, due to another Vikings quarterback change which sees Jaren Hall named as the starter once again. Nick Mullens was benched following his Week 16 performance. This means that Addison will be hard to predict in terms of an outcome.
But since he has produced WR1 performances with Kirk Cousins and Nick Mullens so far this season, don’t rule out Addison putting up another solid performance with another quarterback. However, fantasy managers should probably expect a low-end-WR3 performance with potential upside this week. If fantasy managers have better options such as Jayden Reed, Chris Godwin, or Zay Flowers, they should consider these instead.
While Addison has returned two WR1 overall weeks so far this season, it is unlikely he will threaten the top 24 at the position this week, especially as Justin Jefferson appears to be back to full health and dominating secondaries with explosive plays again.
