Jaire Alexander has quickly established himself as one of the NFL‘s young defensive stars. Alexander has developed a “shutdown” corners reputation where those players are few and far between. He transforms the Green Bay Packers‘ defense and allows their defensive coaching staff to scheme differently, knowing Alexander can erase an offensive weapon.
The Packers’ top defender has been absent the last two games with a nagging back injury. Now heading into Monday Night Football, Alexander is questionable in a matchup with former Packers’ receiver Davante Adams. A heads-up matchup between Alexander and Adams is about as good as it gets in the NFL, and it would be a shame if either combatant couldn’t go.
From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!
What’s the Latest on Jaire Alexander’s Status?
Alexander has missed the last two games, so there is legitimate concern surrounding the organization that the star CB could be out for a third straight week.

Leading up to this week’s game, Alexander has been a limited participant in every practice, so the expectation is that he will play on Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The team and Alexander will conduct a pregame workout to ensure he is ready. Unfortunately, back injuries can be tricky, so keep an eye on Alexander if he has to miss any time during the game or reaggravates it.

If he plays, expect Alexander to shadow Adams plenty. Adams will move all over the formation and line up in the slot. Alexander won’t be on the talented Raiders receiver 100% of the time, but the two will become quite familiar with each other. Remember, they were teammates, so this should be a fun 1-on-1 matchup.
Is Davante Adams Suiting Up?
Alexander’s counterpart and former teammate is also dealing with an injury. Adams enters MNF with a questionable tag, but recent reports indicate that he will play.
As football fans, we are the ones who win, getting to witness one of the best receivers in the game face off with one of the best defensive backs.
The question on the minds of Las Vegas fans is, “How long will we see Adams in a Raiders uniform?”

Rumors circulate about the Las Vegas franchise as the season begins to nosedive. The Raiders do not appear to be competing for a playoff bid in 2023, and the ultra-competitive receiver wants to play for a winner.
Perhaps he should have thought about that before requesting a trade to Las Vegas in the first place.
Regardless, Adams may want out, and for a Raiders team on the verge of a complete rebuild, they may be wise to deal their talented superstar for high-end draft capital while they still can.
